Monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana)

Monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana)
A photograph of a branch with leaves of this unusual tree.

Native to Argentina and Chile, the leaves of this tree are sharp, triangular and scale-like and cover most of the branches. The tree can live to be more than 1,000 years old and does not produce seeds until it is at least 30 years old. It can grow up to 130 feet tall.

Wonderful with the background bokeh! I love araucarias, they always look so ancient- lucky you to have seen them in their natural habitat!
