HWW: Der alte Hauptpegel von Brandenburg an der Havel (PiP)

Über viele Jahre wurden die Wasserstände der Havel durch den Brandenburger Hauptpegel gemessen, der sich am Mühlendamm gegenüber der Heidrichs-Mühle befindet. Der turmförmige, aus roten Backsteinen errichtete Zweckbau wurde im Jahre 1904 im Oberwasser der Havel erbaut. Um zugleich den Wasserstand der Unterhavel messen zu können, stand das Pegelhaus mit dem Unterwasser in Verbindung. Der sogenannte Zulauf führte unter dem Mühlendamm hindurch und leitete das Wasser der unteren Havel dem Pegelschacht zu. Hier stieg es dann auf Grund der Wirkung kommunizierender Röhren an.

Schöne Spiegelung.
Eigentlich braucht man den Pegel nicht. Die Pegelstände kann man an dem Haus dahinter feststellen. Wasser läuft durchs Kellerfenster, durch den Eingang, durch die hohen Fenster, durch die niedrigen Fenster, usw. ;-)
