TSC: in the garden

I don't have a garden, but I did spend the day in a park... Ripe purple prickly pears. If I *did* have a garden (and lived in a desert) I'd totally grow these...

[ETA: six years later, I *do* live in the desert and have a garden, and some of the first things I planted in my garden were various prickly pears... :D no fruit yet (or, not big enough to eat, anyway), but someday when they grow up.... :) ]

I love how you captured these prickly pears; it is a perspective that is quite unusual. :-)

I would too. These are so cool. I've heard of Prickly Pears, but never seen them until now. Nicely done.

These were definitely some of the purplest I've seen - there were other purple ones around, and some red ones, and lots of yellowish-green-fading-to-red-or-pink. It's monsoon season here, and they've been getting a lot of good rain; the desert was way more colorful than usual. :)

Oh, thanks for the information - the yellowish-green-fading-to-red-or-pink are the only sort I've ever seen! Must be great to see how the desert comes to life, I only know this from TV!

I have to say I am soooooo glad you didn't put that shot in with the snake I looked at last night! How could you do that? I almost threw the computer across the floor.. I am petrified of snakes!
