Rotterdam older Willemsbrug (#0162)
Tower (toll gate?) from an earlier version of the Willemsbrug (current version is in the background). The first Willemsbrug opened in 1878 and these towers clearly do not date back that far; the webpage indicates that the original bridge was significantly remodeled in 1927 but there is no mention of these towers re that remodeling. On the webpage there is a wonderful aerial view from 1939 that does show these towers.
I find the architectural style of that era in the Netherlands to be quite interesting, I believe this would be characterized as Amsterdam school (link below), though it is not listed on their page of examples.
