London Docklands Google view

London Docklands Google view
I had no good sense of the relationship between various points in east London. Looking at a Google view of the general Docklands, I was surprised at the relationship between points. For one, I didn’t realize that the end of the Regents Canal at Limehouse Basin (upper left of picture) was just a little northwest of Canary Wharf. More important, I found the location of the Emirates Air Line to be very confusing. For some reason I had thought that I would be starting on the north bank of the Thames and going to the south bank, but the main station is near The O2 on the south bank of Thames and the ride is mostly east across the Thames. On this map, the originating station is the aqua square southeast of The O2, and the ending station is the similar colored square across the Thames and next to a large body of dark water. The towers for the cable car are barely visible in the Thames.
