Curecanti Nat Rec Cimarron D&RG (# 0215)
On the Morrow Point Dam road along the Cimarron River, a remaining trestle from the days when the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad came through the Cimarron cut and then went west along the Gunnison river to Gunnison, CO (most of the right-of-way is now under the reservoirs. The National Park Service kept this trestle as part of an exhibit honoring the D&RG’s history in the canyon. For many years a steam locomotive, boxcar, and caboose set on this trestle as part of the exhibit (pictures on the link below). In 2010 the rolling stock was removed for restoration. The NPS also has a very well written short history of the D&RG, the link for that is also below.
