London Westminster The Monument (#0088)

London Westminster The Monument (#0088)
The Monument, designed by Christoper Wren and completed in 1677. It was built to commemorate the 1666 fire which devastated much of London. The balcony is accessible during the day but due to the time of the day, I didn't go up (311 steps). See: www.themonument.info/history/introduction.html

Diane Putnam, Clint, have particularly liked this photo

There are certain people I wish I could bring forward in time to see how things turned out. Christopher Wren is one of those people. I'd like to see his reaction as he stood in the exact location where you took this picture.

I'm tempted to say "he would cry", but he may wall have known that the area would be an ever-changing mix of office and government buildings. Only a block away is a Wren church, but it was not in a good spot for photographing it.

Gorgeous photo, Don! Eek, too bad about that facade of extrusions on the right - or, whatever all of that is...
