A quite impressive monument, just north of old town. The monument commemorates the Battle of Grunwald, fought in 1410, when combined forces of Poland and Lithuania overcame the Teutonic (German) Knights. The very large dead soldier portrayed on the front is the fallen Teutonic Grand Master. The monument is actually a restoration, the original was destroyed by the Nazis in WWII.
