Austin, NV Lincoln highway (0748)

Lincoln Highway marker (the concrete pillar) at the Lincoln Motel on US-50 in Austin, NV. The Lincoln Highway was the first transcontinental highway, dedicated in 1913. Much of the highway in Nevada became US-50.

All the times I've driven thru Austin, and I've missed that marker! There's one at the top of Bob Scott summit as well.

I've found a couple of similar concrete markers in Illinois along what's now US 30, but they're rare. I keep meaning to do a short Lincoln Highway drive across Illinois and Indiana, but I never get around to it.

I would've thought that there would be much more risk that they'd been knocked down in the areas like the Midwest and East with much denser populations.
