In a state with "open carry" laws, a need to remind citizens to not bring their weapons into the courthouse.

I once went rode my bike downtown to go to one of the federal buildings and forgot I had two butter knives in my bag. I use them as pry bars when I get a flat and need to pull a tire off the bike wheel. The security guys running the x-ray machine quickly developed a very troubled look, though they calmed once they saw what the knives were. I had to run out and prop the knives under the bike seat.

I've had similar to David, steel-toed work boots and trying to get in a courthoues. I've actually gone through airport security with a corkscrew in my bag, with no problem.

Incredible to many of us in the U.S. as well. We, as a culture, seem to be regressing quickly. The notion of openly carrying a pistol was never a topic until recent times.
