Globe AZ (1902)

Globe was founded on mining in the late 1800's and everywhere you turn there is evidence of the town's close relationship with mining. This is an older, abandoned, operation fairly close to the population center of Globe -- per Wikipedia, it currently serves as a water supply facility. Behind me when I took the picture would be the very large open-pit operation on the west side of town (see later pictures)
