Russian River Guerneville (1557)
Rainbow Cattle Co, a gay bar in Guerneville. The Russian River area, and specifically Guerneville, was a popular gay resort area in the 80's and 90's. In those days evidence of the popularity of the area with gays could be found through symbols (e.g., flags), gay-identified businesses and resorts, and just the people on the streets. Now, though, this was the only readily visible evidence of that history. It did not feel like the gay destination that it once was, and a conversation with a local business owner indicated the the gay dollar was no longer a driving force for the community.
