The first time I saw the Seattle Monorail was sometime in the 70's. For some reason my memory of it seems to come out of "The Jetson's", as very modern and not as running down tree-lined streets to a fairly conventional city center.

I find it amusing that the Seattle monorail was once so futuristic and is now so dowdy! The Jetsons' monorail wasn't decorated with pigeon droppings--

Vegas's Monorail doesn't look nearly so primitive, but comparing the two, it looks like they'd have to completely rebuild if they wanted to modernize.

Just read in today's LA Times that there is consideration of a new monorail for the difficult Sepulvada pass (I-405) congestion.
