Cherokee (0147)
See the plaque in a larger picture, it provides quite a bit of detail. Cherokee was originally settled by Cherokee Indians who were brought out from the east, they discovered gold AND the first discovery of diamonds in the U.S. happened here. Per the plaque, it was a very active mining area. The town is now largely gone, though there are residences in the area.
