Hidden Hills Cathedral Canyon 3036aa

Hidden Hills Cathedral Canyon 3036aa
At the north end of the parking area that is above the gorge, in a spot hidden by brush but looking over the Hidden Hills airport, is this relatively rough-looking plaque. It says: "Quehoe, 1889-1919, Nevada's Last Renegade Indian, He Survived Alone." The story of Quehoe is possibly the story of a heinous murderer, the story of a scapegoat for general lawlessness, or, in an interpretation suggested by the headstone (and it's placement above the Christian gorge, facing the airport) -- the story of a lone effort to stop the encroachment of 'civilization' across the West.
