A Scolops sulcipes

A Scolops sulcipes
Was getting dark and it was small and focus is imperfect; I post it only because I'd never seen such a thing before. It flies. And flew. This was the only shot I got.

It turns out that it's a Scolops sulcipes, which identification was made possible through the assistance of Jerome Constant, via the great macrophotographer Kurt . A Scolops is a Dictyopharid hopper.

Kurt's tremendous macrophotography website is orionmystery.blogspot.com , and I highly recommend it -- truly magnificent work there, and creatures you're not likely to encounter.
