Coaches on the A11 Red Lodge by-pass – 10 Oct 1993 (208-11)

Sunday 10 October 1993 – Coaches heading eastbound on the Red Lodge by-pass.

The driver of Mullany’s of Watford F796 FKU, a Whittaker bodied Mercedes-Benz 811D new in April 1989, was about to steadily overtake K31 VRY, a Caetano Optimo bodied Toyota. Although devoid of lettering carried a Hallmark label on the front and was new to Hallmark five months earlier (May 1993).

Out of shot to the left on the slip road from this bridge to the carriageway a high speed police traffic patrol car was sat in wait for any law breaking speed merchants. He wasn’t to be disappointed as a Rover car came streaking through a couple of seconds later and the police car was up and away. After my photographic session I saw the speeder and the police officer in the lay-by at Fiveways roundabout a couple of miles up the road.
