Steve MacKenzie, West Row BSS 438T near Fiveways, Barton Mills – 3 Mar 1995 (253-21A)

Friday 3 March 1995 - Steve MacKenzie of West Row BSS 438T seen in the snow near Fiveways, Barton Mills. It was a Plaxton Supreme bodied Volvo B58 that had been new to Simpson’s Coaches of Rosehearty on the northern coast of Aberdeenshire in January 1979. According to a note I read on the internet, it was acquired to work between Scotland and Plymouth carrying mackerel fishermen. It was later sold to Trathen’s of Plymouth.

It was making a right turn from Tuddenham Road to head towards Fiveways which at the time involved first crossing the westbound carriageway of the A11 before pausing in the central reservation in order to then join the eastbound carriageway. For safety reasons the gap in the central reservation was later closed up.
