Flights Coach Travel G717 JOG at Gatwick Airport – 30 Sep 1990 (131-25)
Sunday 30 September 1990 – The business of Flights Coach Travel based in Birmingham was founded by Frank Flight in 1913. If ever there was a family name that was so well suited to running services to major airports this was it. The company coined the name Flightlink for these services as carried on the logo on the upper deck window.

Flights G717 JOG, a Plaxton Paramount 4000 bodied Volvo B10MT new in April 1990, was seen at Gatwick Airport having worked the 0745 service from Wolverhampton via Birmingham (0845) and Heathrow Airport. Each departure showed a different route number (or perhaps a ‘Flight’ number?). This one was 103.

The lettering along the upper deck windows is however for the service from Wolverhampton and Birmingham to London Victoria, a service that didn’t prove as successful as the Heathrow/Gatwick service.

John FitzGerald, Nouchetdu38 have particularly liked this photo
