On board Stagecoach East 86012 (BV23 NRZ) on Wort's Causeway, Cambridge - 18 Oct 2023 (P1160751)

Wednesday 18 October 2023 (0932) – Wort’s Causeway, Cambridge has restricted use between 0730 and 0930 Mondays to Fridays allowing only local buses, taxis and cycles access. This is to avoid general traffic using the road as a ‘rat run’.

Car drivers wait time until the restriction ends, some are now going through although some more cautious drivers are making absolutely sure they are in the clear by waiting a little longer.

This view was taken from the upper deck of Stagecoach East 86012 (BV23 NRZ), one of the thirty MCV bodied Volvo BZL electric double deckers delivered in early 2023, which was working the Park & Ride service PR4 from Babraham Road P&R to the City Centre.

Leaving the P&R site service PR4 avoids some lengthy city bound traffic queues by first travelling away from the city centre on Babraham Road then via Cherry Hinton Road (Magog) and Wort’s Causeway to then rejoin Babraham Road closer to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
