East Yorkshire (Scarborough & District) 357 (YX57 BXE) in Scarborough - 10 Nov 2012 (DSCN9313)
Saturday 10 November 2012 (0929) – East Yorkshire Motor Services (trading as Scarborough & District) 357 (YX57 BXE), an Alexander Dennis Enviro200 bodied Dart new in 2007, at the corner of Harcourt Place and St. Nicholas Street, Scarborough.

Directly behind the bus is the upper station of the Central Tramway, a funicular tramway opened in 1881 which runs down to Foreshore Road.

The Grand Hotel stands beyond that, opened in 1867 the ‘V’ shaped building pays homage to Queen Victoria. The building was designed around the theme of time with 4 towers to represent the seasons (the two of the open ‘V’ almost appear in this photograph although one of them is almost obscured by the leaves on the tree!), 12 floors for the months of the year, 52 chimneys for the weeks. Originally there were 365 bedrooms - one for each day of a non-leap year.

I recognise the tramway and The Grand David. I didn't realise the hotel had originally had that many rooms! Thanks for the nice memory from last year.

All the best, Rosa.

Thank you Roger. It was a bit of a spur of the moment shot otherwise I might have not included the pole on the left. Many thanks.
