Whippet Coaches SF05 XYZ (HSK 644) in Bury St Edmunds - 25 Aug 2010 (DSCN4367)

Wednesday 25 August 2010 (0946) – Whippet Coaches Limited SF05 XYZ seen on Stand 9 in Bury St Edmunds bus station. The rear panel commemorates 90 years of the company which was formed in 1919.

Despite the side destination indicator being set for service ‘D’ to Cambridge I surmise this was the 0900 Cambridge-Felixstowe service ‘D’ due here at 0945. Whippet operated a range of services from Cambridgeshire to the Norfolk and Suffolk coast primarily for day trippers and not just confined to peak summer months. In 2010 the Felixstowe service operated Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from April until the end of October and then Fridays only until Christmas.

It is a Jonckheere Mistral bodied Volvo B12B which I believe was new to Park’s of Hamilton in March 2005 registered HSK 644.
