Ambassador Travel 100 (F100 BPW) on the A11 near Fiveways, Barton Mills – 3 Apr 1994 (218-26)

Easter Sunday 3 April 1994 (Approx 1150) - Ambassador Travel 100 (F100 BPW), a Plaxton Paramount 3500 bodied Volvo B10M new in January 1989, is seen heading away from Fiveways roundabout on the A11 at Barton Mills. It was working the 0945 Lowestoft to London (Victoria) National Express ‘Rapide’ service 597 scheduled to arrive at Victoria at 1350.

‘Rapide’ services were operated by coaches equipped with toilet facilities and had on board refreshment service which enabled comfort stops to be omitted and so reduce overall journey times. The stewardess is seated at the front of the coach.

Gradually the refreshment services were discontinued although coaches retained the toilet facilities.
