Chambers G760 VRT in Bury St. Edmunds – 24 Aug 1989 (97-17)

Chambers G760 VRT in Bury St. Edmunds – 24 Aug 1989 (97-17)
Saturday 8 July 1989 (1630) - H C Chambers and Son Limited of Bures, Suffolk has operated a motor bus service between Bury St. Edmunds and Colchester via Lavenham, Sudbury and Bures since the 1920s although the business began in 1877 with horse drawn vehicles between Bures and Sudbury.

The company re-introduced double deckers to their fleet in 1989 after a gap of around 17 years when three new Alexander RL bodied Leyland Olympians were taken into stock.

G760 VRT was the second of these new double deckers which entered service in August 1989 (therefore less than 24 days old) and is seen here on Angel Hill, Bury St. Edmunds prior to leaving for Colchester at 1640. It entered service in all white but later received fleet livery.
