Stagecoach Cambus 43 (S457 OFT) in Cambridge – 18 Jan 2003 503-33

Stagecoach Cambus 43 (S457 OFT) in Cambridge – 18 Jan 2003 503-33
Saturday 18 January 2003 – At the time there were three Park and Ride services operated Stagecoach Cambus in Cambridge. Service 77 (Newmarket Road to Madingley Road) operated by cream and red buses, service 88 (Trumpington) by cream and blue buses and service 99 (Cowley Road to Babraham Road) by cream and green buses.

Alexander ALX300 bodied MAN number 43 (S457 OFT) is seen heading to Babraham Road on service 99. It was new in February 1997 to Stagecoach owned Busways in North Eastern England with fleet number 457.
(Upon arrival at Cambus this bus received fleet number 43 following on from the batch of ALX300 bodied MANs delivered new with fleet numbers 1-40.

Two vehicle transfers were then assigned numbers 41 (SP51 AMK transferred from Fife Scottish where it had been numbered 278) and 42 (S459 OFT originally Busways 459) before 43 arrived.

The introduction of the corporate fleet numbering scheme had obvious administrative benefits when S457 OFT and S459 OFT despite remaining geographically separated fell back into a common batch sequence becoming 22457 and 22459.
