De Lijn (ex MIVG) 33 Gent - 4 Mar 1993

De Lijn (ex MIVG) 33 Gent - 4 Mar 1993
Thursday 4 March 1993 – MIVG, the municipal bus and tram system in the Belgian city of Gent had recently come under the control of De Lijn, the national bus and tram company of northern Belgium. Tram 33, still in Gent’s blue livery, was seen here at Pieters railway station. It was one of about 54 such cars built by La Brugeoise et Nivelles in 1971-1972. I travelled on it into the city centre. The trip through some narrow streets was quite fascinating. Delivery vehicles were parked on the footpaths outside shops, some of them marginally overhanging the roadway but with sufficient gap for the tram to pass. However, the driver did have to instruct some to move out of the way otherwise the tram would not have been able to pass.

Alongside is a tram and in the background are buses sporting De Lijn's white and grey normal fleet livery.
