Saturday 2 August 1997 - Ellen Smith (Tours) Limited was originally a Rochdale based family business established in the early 1900s. In January 1991 the family sold the business to Rossendale Transport who continued to use the name of this well respected business until 2002 when ownership then passed to two Rossendale Transport managers in a management buy out. The name continues today and continues to operate a comprehensive holiday tour and excursion programme from the area around Rochdale, Bury, Middleton etc.
Edinburgh was a regular destination for Ellen Smith coaches and in this view I snapped Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M-60 number 320 (RJI 8720) as I stood on the steps of the Royal Scottish Academy on Princes Street in the Scottish capital. It was new to Smiths Shearings as their 763 registered F763 ENE in January 1989.
