South West Clipper brochure (front page) Summer 1976
For many years there were services operated from Yorkshire to Rochdale (by Hebble from Bradford and Halifax) and to Oldham (by Hansons from Huddersfield) to link with the Yelloway 'Devonian' service to the south west - actually with through coaches being employed. These facilities enabled Yelloway to become a significant joint operator in the direct services from Yorkshire to Torbay in the late 1960s branded as the 'South West Clipper'.

The 'South West Clipper' services were operated by quite a number of different operators, the list including Associated Motorways, East Midland Motor Services, East Yorkshire Motor Services, Hebble Motor Services (as successor to Yorkshire Woollen District Transport), J W Kitchin and Sons, Wallace Arnold Tours, West Yorkshire Road Car Company, Yorkshire Traction Company, Yelloway Motor Services. Nine different operators although if one was counting interested parties that number rises to eighteen when you consider that Associated Motorways comprised a pool of ten operators in itself!
