Burg Eppstein über der Altstadt ist mit ihren imposanten Befestigungsanlagen als gut erhaltenes Verteidigungssystem des 14. und 15. Jh. erlebbar. Eindrucksvoll präsentiert sich der einstige Adelssitz als Machtsymbol der Herren von Eppstein, die im 13. Jh. als Mainzer Erzbischöfe die Reichspolitik mitbestimmten. Im Museum auf der Burg ist die 1000-jährige Geschichte dieses bedeutsamen Kulturdenkmals anschaulich aufbereitet. Der Blick vom mächtigen Bergfried macht die Historie spürbar...

Picturesque alley... It's the exit of Eppstein castle, situated on a mountain ridge in the Taunus, surrounded by castle moats, fortifications and flank-towers. This beautiful ruin offers an amazing outlook over the town and nearby villages.

Eppstein is a quaint little town in the Taunus mountains. The ruins of the castle (first mention in 1122), the half-timbered houses and the narrow streets give much character to the old city centre.
