World Photography Day

Bridgwater Bay, Burnham on Sea. A humid day that became overcast with some light rain. Taking advantage of a break in the weather in the early evening we took a drive to Burnham on Sea to try to find a suitable photograph for World Photography Day.
There were only a few people left on the beach and in this image you can see the old wooden lower Burnham lighthouse on the far right and the island to the left of it is Steep Holm. The lady taking an evening stroll on the beach gave some foreground interest and I chose this picture simply because of the light and the feeling of wide open space.
As a lover of sunflowers I was delighted to see a very droopy bunch of sunflowers that someone has buried in the sand, just out of the picture. Hanging their heads down towards the sand the colours were still vibrant and I thought they added just a touch of the unusual which made my day. In my youth we just used paper flags to adorn our sandy creations!!!!
The sunflowers can be seen here:-

Very nice composition, and a great recognition of World Photography day!
Great colours too, and the one little black figure works so well.
Best Wishes, (very late) HWPD, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

Wünsche noch einen schönen Nachmittag, liebe Grüße Güni :))
I love reading how people really think about our event for the day. (Can we sense each other working on it? *smile*) Thank you for the details about how this went for you. How nice you had someone to come along with you. Photography is often such a solitary thing to do (unless one is in a studio).
And did you see? Someone else in the group was there on that beach!! Perhaps you crossed paths with or without knowing it. I noticed because of the 'lighthouse' in both your photos. That seemed unique to me and double checked, and yup, the same location. Roger (Grisly) was there - www.ipernity.com/doc/grisleyreg/53052638/in/group/2596198 His was done in black and white. It's great to see the two perspectives together here in our event group.
Is it a long drive to this location? Does it often inspire you?
Best wishes.
