Chilly Breakfast

We don't have snow this morning, but Shrewsbury is under threat of inundation. I love the way you've captured the elements of a chilly breakfast, Doug.

Thanks very much Amelia. Been watching developments in the Shrewsbury area on the TV. Can't imagine what it must be like to live with such a threat to your home. Hope things do not turn out so bad as predicted.

A cracking shot Doug. Poor little starlings, - but at least they had a good breakfast and gave you a great photo opportunity. We used to get them at our feeders but not for a while now. You knew the instant they arrived as they were so noisy, squabbling amongst themselves constantly. It looks like the only chattering they are doing here is with the cold! I hope the weather improves for you soon.

Thanks so much for your kind comment Carol. They are born survivors, always the first to the feeder in the morning. This was taken after the initial rush so it was a little quieter;-) The snow did fall for long and has now gone apart from on higher ground.

Sums things up perfectly. Your starlings look better behaved than mine who arrive in a big rugby scrum standing on top of each other. Their breakfast was wet but snow free this morning however snow has now arrived. I'll need to put out more bird food. Hope yours has stopped.

Know what you mean about the scrum Jean, this was taken just after the initial rush. Most of our snow has gone now, just a bit left on the higher ground. Thanks so much for your kind comment.

A poor picture is better than none Doug, the point here for me is that it shows the plight of wildlife on a cold winters day when food is scarce.
