Der Herbst kündigt sich an - Autumn is approaching
Auf einer abgemähten Wiese fand ich diese kleine Gruppe von Herbstzeitlosen (Colchicum autumnale) im Gegenlicht. Der Sommer ist (leider) vorbei!
On a mown meadow I found this small group of autumn crocus (Colchicum autumnale) in the back light. The summer is (unfortunately) over!

I also wanted to say thank you for coming by to visit my last picture(s) while I was away on my vacation without a chance to reciprocate. It was wonderful to get your response and attention, and meant a lot for me to be able to read comments if I had any internet connection at all. Thanks for making me feel so cared-about! (This is a copy-paste to everyone who commented on my previous picture...I wanted to make sure everyone got a thank-you!) :)
cammino club has replied to Janet Brien clubMaybe some more information about autumn crocus:
From August to October it sprouts its pink to bright violet blossoms from the earth. The funnel-shaped flower seems to sit on a "stem", which in reality represents the flower tube and rises from the bulb 15 - 20 cm deep. The leaves do not appear until next spring and have a tulip-like shape.

Attention: All parts of the plant are very poisonous and there is a danger of confusion with Allium ursinum, known as wild garlic.
Have a lovely weekend
