Eine Sitzecke aus Quaderkalk in der Nähe der Muschelkalksteinbrüche bei Winterhausen/ Bayern.
In der Nähe von Winterhausen wird die mehrere Meter mächtige Quaderkalkschicht des Oberen Muschelkalks abgebaut, die vor ca. 240 Mio. Jahren entstand. Aus den begehrten Winterhäuser Steinen entstanden Bauwerke in ganz Deutschland, z.B. die Eisenbahnbrücke in Heidingsfeld und Ingolstadt, Rathaus und Bahnhof in Dresden und Leipzig und Isar-Brücken in München.

A seating area of limestone near the shell limestone quarries in Winterhausen/ Bayern.
Near Winterhausen several meters thick shells of limestone layers of the the Upper Muschelkalk are quarried, which was created about 240 million years ago. From the coveted Winterhäuser stones originated structures in all of Germany, for example, the railway bridge in Heidingsfeld and Ingolstadt, town hall and the main station in Dresden and Leipzig and Isar-Bridges in Munich.
