Just before you reach the harbour of Halong City, two special buildings catch your eye.
The connecting bridge and a cable car that connects the two parts of the city.
On top of the hill the Halong Eye belongs to an amusement
park at the end of the cable car.

Fishing village with pearl farming in Halong Bay
One of the last stops on our fishing village exploration is a village with pearl farming.
Almost all pearls used in jewellery making today are cultured.
First the shells are "inoculated" with a small ball of mother-of-pearl.
Implanting ("inoculating") pearls involves surgical skill as well as science. It requires utmost accuracy, good tools and the right approach.
After six years of careful maintenance and care, the pearls are ready for harvesting. If climatic, water and all other conditions allow, the "oysters" have produced some beautiful jewels.

The Dau Go Cave was formed about 2 million years ago. The cave is 27 metres above sea level. Inside the cave is a huge room with a size of about 5,000 square metres. The height of the dome is 25 metres.
When you enter the cave, you see a magnificent world of stalactites and stalagmites, presented in different sizes and shapes. They look like living statues, a masterpiece of creation that leaves an impression,

The legend of Da Go Cave
There are various versions of the story about this cave told by Halong residents. One of them has to do with the fight against Mongol invaders under the Tran Dynasty in the 13th century. The story goes that Dau Go Cave is where wooden stakes were hidden before being driven into the Dang River stream to stop the Mongols. This is why the cave is called "Dau Go" (Wooden Piles Cave).

No trip to Halong Bay is complete without visiting one of its famous caves. Carved deep into the limestone cliffs of the bay, each cave is a great example of how magnificent nature can be. The caves in this area were formed between 11,000 and 70,000 years ago and when you enter one, it's like stepping right into the past.
Ancient stories and legends surround each cave in Halong Bay, and that is usually where you will find the origins for the cave's name. These tales give each cave a kind of mystical, spiritual face.
