Cycling from Bordeaux Vineyards to the Atlantic Coast / Dune du Pilat

Once you get to the top, you'll be rewarded with a great view.
The dune consists of 135 hectares of pure sand, and the surrounding woods cover about 4000 hectares.
As this area is of great ecological interest, it was declared a nature reserve in 1978.

Sie haben völlig recht, Aschi, das ist eine unglaubliche Aussicht von der Spitze der Düne. Das wunderschöne blaue Meer dahinter, umgeben von Bäumen - fabelhaft.

Wie schön, dass du uns dieses Naturwunder im Panorama-Format zeigst, Aschi! So bekommt man ein Gefühl für das Ausmaß der "größten Düne Europas". Ich bin im Jahre 1985 mit meinem Sohn hinaufgeklettert. Es würde mich interessieren, wie weit sie seitdem ins Land hineingewandert ist...Übrigens gibt es in Dänemark auch eine riesige Wanderdüne, die jährlich um 15 m in Richtung Nordost wandert.
