The far view to Fidra Island
Fidra is an uninhabited island in the Firth of Forth. The name of the island is attributed to the Old Norse language and is said to refer to the amount of feathers found on the island by the seabird colony.
The lighthouse on the island is automated today.
With the help of cameras the birds are observed by the Scottish Seabird Centre.
The lighthouse on Fidra Island in the Firth of Forth was built in 1885.
The lights are visible up to 24 nautical miles.
Fidra Island is said to have been the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's book "Treasure Island".
