This 100mm long Grasshopper was also attracted to the Moth Trap light, and I found it in the morning inside the balcony doors (I'd been going in and out occasionally through the night to see what had come in, so it had probably flown in to the inside curtains). It was on the glass pane of the door, and when I went to pick it up to put outside, I received a powerful hit in the stomach as it decided to hop away when I was just 0.3 metre away from it. I was a bit more careful catching it after that, and after a photograph it flew off into the garden at quite respectable speed.

I think it is technically a "Locust", but that is the name it is given in the references. I don't think it's the largest we've seen, but it must be approaching it.
