2450 Abrostola tripartita (Spectacle)

2450 Abrostola tripartita (Spectacle)
Noctuidae, Plusiinae:

When I first came across this moth, and the only reference book I had was an old copy of South's, with many of the plates missing, I used to call this species a "Biggles Moth". Biggles was a fictitious flying ace in poplar stories based in the first World War era. The "Spectacle" marks on the thorax looked like the typical flying goggles used at that time by pilots, hence my reference.
