1759 Ecliptopera silaceata (Small Phoenix)

1759 Ecliptopera silaceata (Small Phoenix)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 26-34mm.

A quite variable common species in Cornwall, where the loops joining the inner and outer bars are present or absent to varying degrees often making this species look totally different if not expected. This version with the loops across the wing bar is the most common in Cornwall, but the other versions occur as a sprinkling in the population.

The flight season is from April to September, with two generations overlapping. Peaks occur in May and August.
