The beautiful flowers of Silene vulgaris, the Bladder Campion blooming happily in my garden at Shrewsbury in Shropshire.

Moonwort (Botrichium lunaria), a small and unusual fern found on dry grassland. Here the fertile fronds are mature and dispensing spores whenever there is a slight breeze.

A small Noctuid Moth caterpillar I think, found on heather at The Bog, Shropshire. I think this one was about to change its skin.

If my ID is correct this is a bit of a rarity to say the least, species is Notable A - rare and scarce in the UK. Found feeding in good numbers on Thistle at Shrewsbury Shropshire.

I spent a very pleasant hour or so watching these little jewels at Llanymynech Rocks nature reserve yesterday, they were seldom still so I just sat down on a boulder and watched their antics as they fed and squabbled amongst themselves. This was the only one that I managed to get a picture of as it perched briefly on a plantain flower head in front of me, most were busy nectaring from Herb Robert flowers, a plant which seemed to be their preferred source of nectar.
