Studied in Milan with Alberto Selva and Vittorio Orefice.Debut in 1891 at Vienza as Don Alvaro in “La Forza del Destino” by Verdi. Sang in Naples,Genoa,Warsaw,Paris,Madrid,Barcelona ,Lisbon ,London ,Berlin and Buenos Aries.Created the roles of Guevara in “Cristofo Colombo” by Franchetti at La Scala Milan 1892 , Fenton in “Falstaff” by Verdi at La Scala Milan 1893 and Milio in “Zaza” by Leoncavallo at Teatro Milan in 1900.He was married to soprano Adelina Stehle (1860-1945) .His last appearance was at La Scala in 1918 .Then taught singing in Milan.Roles included Cavadossi in “Tosca” by Puccini , Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly” by Puccini,Rodolfo in “La Boheme” by Puccini, Des Grieux in “Manon Lescaut” by Puccini and Andrea Chenier in “Andrea Chenier” by Giordano

Studied at the Milan Conservatory before making her operatic debut as Micaëla in “Carmen” by Bizet at Milan’s Teatro Dal Verme in 1892. Three years later, she debuted at Italy's most famous opera house, La Scala, Milan, performing in Sophie in “ Werther” by Massenet. Milan became her home base , Created Mimì in “ La Boheme “ by Leoncavallo 1897 , Zazà in “Zazà” by Leoncavallo 1900 , Stephana in “Siberia” by Giordano 1903, Cio-Cio San in “Madama Butterfly “by Puccini 1904 and Lodoletta in “Lodoletta” by Mascagni 1918.She also appeared during the pre-World War I period at theatres in other key Italian cities, including Rome and Venice. Sang in South America ,Paris, Spain and Moscow,. In 1921, by which time her voice was in marked decline, she sang in Chicago and New York City. Her final public performance was as Cio-Cio San in “Madama Butterfly “ by Puccini at Barcelona in 1923.
