Thank you so much, Amelia! Nidaros cathedral was built over St. Olav's tomb and was (still is) the major pilgrimage destination in the north. St.Olav's Way leads from Oslo to Trondheim: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilgrim%27s_Route
Sigrid Undset's Kristin Lavransdatter (from the Nobel prize winning book www.penguin.co.uk/authors/18754/sigrid-undset ) made the pilgrimage from Gudbrandsdalen over Dovrefjell to Nidaros.
