Geothermal shower!

(I'll be off to the Hamburg meeting, see you back next week.)

This hot shower by the road to Krafla Geothermal Power Plant (Kröfluvirkjun) is fully functional with 40°C hot water.
It makes use of an abandoned borehole but nobody really knows how it got there- supposedly it is an art installation (at one time there was also a washbasin and a toilet;-)

Kröfluvirkjun is where they accidentally drilled into the magma chamber of Krafla volcano. Now there are plans to do this again and utilize the energy.

Thank you so much, Keith! The water comes from a hot river that is a runoff from the geothermal power plant further up. So I guess it has had time to cool off a bit;-)

We just passed by, I managed the photo out of the bus window;-) And in the Nature Baths I preferred the cafeteria, they had good soup and coffee!

Thank you so much, Adele! Indeed:-) In Norway I have seen something similar- a bathtub and toilet on a small skerry, but they were not functional whereas the Ielandic shower is actually working.
