Kora

Kora
A nun at Trashyangtse's Chorten Kora turning prayer wheels and walking the kora. Kora is the ritual circumambulation round a stupa (tib. chorten) or other holy places. The kora is done clockwise by all Buddhists except members of the old Bon religion who walk anti clockwise. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kora_(pilgrimage)

Eine Nonne am Chorten Kora in Trashiyangtse dreht Gebetsmühlen und geht die Kora. Eine Kora ist die rituelle Umrundung eines Chörten ( sanskrit: Stupa ) oder anderer heiliger Stätten, die von Buddhisten im Uhrzeigersinn gegangen wird. EInzige Ausnahme sind die Angehörigen der alten Bön-Religion, die im Gegenzeigersinn laufen.

Thank you so much, Amelia! The Buddhist rosary is called "mala" and has 108 beads, Instead of Ave Marias they say a mantra (like Om mani padme hum) for each bead.

Schönen Dank, Udo! Auf den Bergpässen führt man sogar mit dem Auto die Kora, einmal im Uhrzeigersinn um den Chörten, der da meist oben steht;-)

Danke vielmals, Volker! Die meisten Leute in Bhutan sind sehr schlank, aber unter den Mönchen oder Nonnen sah man Wohlgenährte;-) Ebenso im westlichen Teil des Landes, wo der Wohlstand ausgeprägter ist...

Herzlichen Dank, Percy! Es war schon sehr verwirrend, ich war froh, am Ende der Reise ein paar wenige "Heilige" zweifelsfrei zu erkennen...Dazu hat alles Religiöse auch noch zwei Namen, einen auf tibetisch und einen in Sanskrit;-)
