Black church of Búðir

Situated on Snæfellsnes peninsula, Búðir used to be an important trading post until 1930. Nowadays only the church and a hotel are left. The church dates from 1848 and is one of the oldest wooden churches in Iceland.

Herzlichen Dank, Lothar! Man könnte sich schlechtere Plätze vorstellen:-) Die Halbinsel ist voller Mythen- diverse Sagas spielen dort und Snæfellsjökull war der Einsteig zur Unterwelt bei Jules Verne.

Tausend Dank, Udo! Üblicherweise sind Kirchen in Island weiß angestrichen, diese ist eine Ausnahme... Die Wolken haben uns an dem Tag schwer geärgert- wir sind extrem nass geworden;-)
