Now 93 degrees in Monitor Valley, got up on the pass to Manhatten, NV for enough cool air to car camp again.

Looking back down the bowl, I can now see the South Peak trail coming from the sign post at approx center of this photo. That trail is seriously eroding into scree and cliffing out in a number of places before the even bigger push straight up. I recommend trek poles and not going alone to anyone who tries that route.

Another bit of view of Monitor Valley to the north from my max height on Middle Peak.

To the north, it seems to go on relatively flat forever, like on the Ruby Crest Trail, so I did not carry on that way. I did not realize I was actually looking at the Middle Peak. I probably would have walked and peaked those rocks if I had known, but did not plan a backup to South Peak, did not read my maps carefully, was hot, fatigued, solo, etc.

There is the familiar mining fields of Round Mountain, and Carvers in the upper right.

I just keep walking, but it seems to keep rising and never crest over. But I suspect to the left is the closest place it may plunge over to Big Smokey Valley.
