Le Bourg - St. Saturnin
The church was originally part of a priory dependent on the abbey of Saint-Géraud in Aurillac. The surviving architectural style of the church allows it to be dated to the late 11th or early 12th century.
The nave and monastic buildings have disappeared. The church was reportedly burned and partially demolished during the Wars of Religion.
Restoration work was carried outbetween 1906 and 1912. During this time, the facade was rebuilt, three arches of the transept crossing were reconstructed, and the transept vaults, which had previously been covered only by a simple floor, were rebuilt. The church was formerly fortified, but no elements of these fortifications remain.
Unfortunately the church was locked.
