Notice that Joey's threat has vaporized. As long as Elahn yields, there is immediate "reward" through the release of pressure (in this case, social pressure). Elahn still needs these reminders after all this time, despite reinforcement every day, many times per day ... imagine what a mess occurs when humans, who aren't with llamas 24/7, (1) aren't consistent about their boundaries and/or (2) don't immediately reward the llama who yields. Or, worst of all, the disasters that can happen when humans raise young llamas without adult llamas around to teach discipline and the value of self-restraint, consideration of others' space, and yielding.
