Although the earliest part of the church dates back to the 13th century and there was probably an earlier church on the site the Lych Gate is relatively modern it is a war memorial erected by the Rev. H. Cooper in remembrance of his son and other eight men from the village who perished in WWI their names are recorded on a tablet inside the gate. The carving reads For God King and Country the rear one reading Christ is Risen From the Dead.
