Strange looking, perhaps an alien mushroom?! Are they edible?

I'm afraid to get to into fungi because they are so fascinating I might never stop.

Love finding all different kinds in the fall. Yours is huge, yes? I think I like this one best of the two, it seems flower like, but mostly I like the perspective and how you can see a bit of others growing nearby.

Lovely folds in this complete specimen Peter. Quite fascinating how they grow and so differently! I must keep my eyes open more for them. Bright and sunny here, but with an autumnal chill. Have a good Thursday.

There should be plenty of them around at the moment all shapes and sizes, I keep intending to get a book so I could name a few of them. It was quite warm for a couple of hours this afternoon but the temperature soon dropped as it started to get dark
